Fitness 101 is a beginner-friendly program designed to take the guesswork out of fitness. Whether you’re stepping into the gym for the first time or looking to build a stronger foundation, Fitness 101 will guide you every step of the way.

Learn proper technique, understand equipment, and develop a balanced routine tailored to your goals. Our knowledgeable staff will help you build confidence, stay motivated, and create lasting habits beyond the program.

Fitness 101 is divided into two components: Orientation and Basics. These can be taken together, sequentially, or separately—whatever works best for you. Those beginning their wellness journey may want to take the Orientation first, then Basics.

Fitness 101: Orientation introduces you to the fitness center and its equipment through a hands-on, guided experience. Participants receive a comprehensive tour of the Israel Fitness Center and Payne Whitney Gym, with a strong focus on how to properly and confidently use cardio and strength equipment.

You’ll also get a brief overview of additional offerings, including group fitness classes, instructional programs, and personal training opportunities.

Perfect for those new to the facility—or anyone looking to get reacquainted—this orientation is designed to build comfort, confidence, and readiness from day one.

Fitness 101: Basics is a 4-week foundational course designed to help you begin strength training safely and effectively. You’ll learn core resistance training principles, proper form, and how to structure workouts.

Participants also receive sample workout templates to support independent training with purpose and direction.
