Group Fitness Classes FAQ

Group Fitness Classes and programming are designed with the general population in mind.  Whether you are just beginning your fitness journey or are a seasoned fitness participant, modifications, and variations are provided to create an energetic, welcoming, challenging, yet inclusive atmosphere. Group Fitness Classes are offered in the “drop-in” style where you participants can attend sessions at their discretion without fear or consequence of missing skills or lessons from previous classes.

To register for a Group Fitness Class, participants must be a current PWG member and must purchase one of the following Group Fitness Passes:

  • All Access Pass: This group fitness pass provides the participant access to all group fitness classes (Yoga, Indoor Cycling, and GroupX fitness classes) for the duration of the membership.
  • Indoor Cycling Pass: This group fitness pass provides the participant access to all group fitness classes (Yoga, Indoor Cycling, and GroupX fitness classes) for the duration of the membership.
  • Yoga Pass: This group fitness pass provides the participant access to all Yoga classes for the duration of the membership.
  • GroupX Pass: This group fitness pass provides the participant access to all GroupX classes for the duration of the membership.
  • Winter/Summer Recess: This group fitness pass provides the participant access to all group fitness classes (Yoga, Indoor Cycling, and GroupX fitness classes) for Winter/Summer sessions.

Q: I have a Group Fitness Class Pass, how to I register for a class?

A: Once you have a Group Fitness Class Pass, you will need to sign up for a class on MyRec. Some classes have limited spots. Signing up ensures your spot. Signing up allows instructors to communicate with participants in event of an emergency cancellation.  Registration links for Group Fitness Classes can be found on MyRec.

Q: What if I do not see any class instances listed?

A: Only scheduled classes within a three (3) day period from today will appear below and be available for registration. (Don’t worry there will be additional classes beyond the three (3) day window! Check back soon and they will appear.)

Q: I registered for a Group Fitness Class and how I need to cancel.

A: We ask if you cannot attend a class,  you cancel to help open spots for other participants. Especially in classes with limited space i.e. cycling classes. You can cancel your registration on MyRec.

If you plan on enrolling in a Group Fitness Class Pass, you will also need a PWG Membership.

If you have a PWG Membership and would like to take a Group Fitness Class, then you will need to purchase a Group Fitness Class Pass.

This is an outline of the classes offered each week. Due to instructor and facility schedule conflicts, not all classes will be available every week.  During recesses and as the semester ends, class schedules may be condensed due to limited demand.

  • The Department of Campus Recreation reserves the right to adjust the schedule, class formats and instructors when necessary.

  • The Department of Campus Recreation reserves the right to deny/cancel enrollment/participation based on guidelines for Discipline, Suspension, and Loss of Privileges

Exceptions may be made for certain programs/activities. Hard-soled, closed-toe athletic shoes or cycling shoes are recommended for all spinning and indoor cycling classes.  Shoe removal may be appropriate in Yoga and/or certain dance formats, at the instructor’s discretion.

  • Members are encouraged to register online via MyRec.
  • In-person registration can be accommodated by scheduling an appointment with Membership Services.
  • Once registration is opened it will remain open until maximum class enrollments are reached.
  • Maximum enrollment for each class is dependent on what equipment will be utilized for the class and to provide an effective environment for participants and the instructor.

Within the 10 days of the first scheduled class participants can cancel their registration and will be provided a prorated refund for the remaining classes.

After the 10th day of the first scheduled class participants may request to cancel their registration with a prorated refund for the remaining classes with documentation from their healthcare provider stating that they can no longer participate in the class. Refunds are not provided without documentation from their healthcare provider.

Each semester there will be a designated week for make-up classes which were rescheduled due to inclement weather or instructor cancellation.  Refunds will not be provided for classes which are rescheduled.  If classes are canceled and cannot be rescheduled, participants will receive a pro-rated refund based on the number of classes which were canceled.

Within the 10 days of purchase of the Group Fitness Class Pass, members can cancel their registration and will be provided a prorated refund.

After the 10th day of purchase of the Group Fitness Class Pass, members may request a prorated refund with documentation from their healthcare provider stating that they can no longer participate in Group Fitness Classes. Refunds are not provided without documentation from their healthcare provider.

Participants will not be refunded for classes canceled due to inclement weather or instructor cancellation unless the total number of canceled classes for the semester/summer exceeds 25% of the total number of scheduled classes.  In event of this scenario participants will receive a prorated refund.
