MyRec is the web portal for members of Payne Whitney Gym, the Outdoor Education Center and Ingalls Ice Rink.

Yale Alumni Schedule an Appointment with PWG Membership Services

Your username was setup at the time your MyRec account was created, typically the email you provided.

Yale NetIDs do not work with Alumni memberships.

Yale Retiree Schedule an Appointment with PWG Membership Services

Your username was setup at the time your MyRec account was created, typically the email you provided.

Yale NetIDs do not work with Retiree memberships.

Household Member Schedule an Appointment with PWG Membership Services

Your username was setup at the time your MyRec account was created, typically the email you provided.

Individuals who are 15 years age and younger do not have MyRec accounts. 

Yale NetIDs do not work with Household memberships.

Non-Yale Community Schedule an Appointment with PWG Membership Services Your username was setup at the time your MyRec account was created, typically the email you provided.

Once you have a MyRec account, memberships can be purchased via MyRec. 

Logins are the same on both MyRec and the Yale Mobile App platforms. 

Passwords can only reset from MyRec.

Members who use a Yale NetID to log in

Yale Students and Faculty/Staff must sign in with your Yale NetID (CAS).

Yale Campus Recreation cannot assist with changing or resetting Yale NetID passwords. Please contact the Yale IT Helpdesk for Yale NetID and password issues. 

If you suspect you Yale NetID may be incorrect in MyRec, contact PWG Membership Services.

Members who do not use a Yale NetID to log in

If you have forgotten your password/username:

  1. Go the MyRec sign in page.    
  2. Enter your username or email associated with your membership
  3. Click the “Next” button
  4. Click the “Trouble Signing in?” and follow the prompts to recover username or reset password

Check the email associated with your account. Password email resets can take a few minutes to appear in your email inbox. Check the spam/junk folders. GMail users should check their Promotions folder.

If you are unsure of your username or believe the email associated with your account is incorrect, please email pwg@yale.edu for assistance.

Passwords for Non-Yale NetIDs (CAS) users must contain: a lower-case letter, number, symbol, must be at least six characters long, and cannot contain your username. 

The Yale Rec Mobile app serves as an extension of MyRec. 

Logins are the same on both platforms. Passwords can only reset from MyRec.

The main features and member benefits of the app include:

  • Yale Rec ID, a mobile barcode can be used for check-in at the PWG Welcome Desk.
  • Viewing Group Fitness Classes by Day of the Week
  • Receiving notifications about upcoming facility closures and programs.

MyRec accounts and memberships may be suspended for a variety of reasons. Please email PWG Membership Services for next steps. 

Members will receive email communication before a suspension is placed on their account.

If you are suspended for an outstanding account balance and have paid the balance, please email PWG Membership Services as they will verify payment and remove suspension.

Please Note:  For security purposes, only select Campus Recreation staff have access to view and can remove suspensions.  Staff at the PWG Welcome Desk do not have access to this information, nor can they remove suspensions. 

Updating your method of payment

Step 1: View your current method(s) of payment

Step 2: Click on the three dots of the payment method you wish to update or change. Then click “Update”. 

  • “Update existing payment information” is used if the card account number is the same, however the expiration date or security code has changed.
  • “Replace payment information” is used if you wish to change to a new card with a new account number.

If you have an Agreement Billing Membership. DO NOT “Click Add New Card”, as this will not change the card associated with your current membership agreement. 

Deleting a method of payment

Step 1: View your current method(s) of payment

Step 2: Click on the three dots of the payment method you wish to update or change. Then click “Delete”

If you have an active Agreement Billing Membership, you will not be able to delete the method of payment associated with that membership. Follow the steps above update your method of payment.  

Issues with Updating or Adding a Payment Method

All credit and debit cards are processed through Yale’s credit card/debit card portal. If your card is not accepted or you see the error “contact system administrator” there is nothing Yale Campus Recreation can do to assist as your card issuer is rejecting the charge or setup for continuous billing. 

Typically, this may be related to an incorrect billing address. The billing address must match the address associated with your card exactly. (i.e. using st. instead of street, sixth ave. instead of 6th Ave.). If you see this error, we suggest you confirm the security address associated with your card. 

Status Change Process & Next Steps
Yale Student to Yale Alumni

After May 31st of the year of graduation, students will no longer receive a PWG Student Membership. 

Please email PWG Membership Services so we can update your eligibility to Yale Alumni, after which you may purchase a PWG Alumni Membership. 

Yale Faculty/Staff or YNHH to Retiree

After retirement from Yale University or Yale New Haven Hospital, please email PWG Membership Services so we can update your eligibility to Yale Retiree, after which you may purchase a PWG Retiree Membership. 

Proof or retirement from Human Resources is required to obtain a Yale Retiree eligibility. 

Yale Faculty/Staff or YNHH (end of employment) to Non-Yale Community After end of employment from Yale University or Yale New Haven Hospital, please email PWG Membership Services so we can update your eligibility to Non-Yale Community, after which you may purchase a PWG Non-Yale Community Membership. 
Household Member to Non-Yale Community If a sponsoring Yale Community Member cancels their membership, your current membership will also expire and your eligibility will change to Non-Yale Community, after which you may purchase a PWG Non-Yale Community Membership. 

Q: What happens if I do not notify PWG Membership Services of a status change?

A: Periodic membership audits are performed and if you are found to have a different status, your eligibility will be changed. You will be notified via email to purchase a new membership under your new eligibility. 

PWG Membership Eligibilities and Membership Rates

If you do not have an assigned locker, you can request one from PWG Membership Services. Once assigned we will send you a link for renewal and payment. 

If you have a locker assigned, you can renew your locker via MyRec. If you do not see a locker available for renewal your locker has expired and is past the renewal window.

Book a Squash Court. Courts may only be booked up to three days in advance. 

Q: Why can I not book more than one court?

A: There are limitations on the courts a member may book. This prevents any member from monopolizing the space. 

PWG Memberships Guidelines & Policies

Individuals who wish to enroll in a new PWG Membership or who are reactivating an expired/cancelled/suspended PWG Membership must schedule an in-person appointment with PWG Membership Services. This appointment is to verify identity and create a MyRec account. After the initial appointment, most membership functions, questions, and issues can be resolved either online or e-mail. 

Membership Payments & Billing

PWG offers membership pricing options including Paid in Full and Agreement Billing (via a recurring fee billed to the member’s credit/card). 

Paid in Full Memberships 

Paid in Full payments be made via cash, check, or credit/debit card. (Cash transactions cannot exceed $20/transaction.)  

Payments for Paid in Full Memberships via credit/debit card will typically be charged within 7-10 business days from the date of transaction.

Agreement Billing Memberships

Agreement Billing Memberships must provide a credit/debit card for payment.

Billing for Agreement Billing Membership occurs between the 1st and 5th of each month. Payments via credit/debit card will typically be charged within 7-10 business days from the date of transaction. 

Decisions for refunds will be determined on a case-by-case basis by the Department of Campus Recreation.

Campus Recreation will not provide refunds for the following:

  • Lack of use
  • Failure by the member to cancel their membership or locker rental
  • Failure by the member to notify Membership Services of a change in their employment or any other causes which would justify a change to their PWG Membership Category/Status
  • Unhappiness or displeasure from and including but not limited to services offered, facilities, hours of operation, fees, staff, etc.
  • Scheduled closures and adjusted hours of operation
  • Emergency closures and adjusted hours of operation
  • Misconduct by other members, guests, or visitors, including but not limited to theft, harassment, disputes, etc.
  • Suspension/termination of a membership due to violation of Campus Recreation or Yale University polices or guidelines

Prior to the activation or purchase of a membership or locker rental individuals are encouraged to schedule a guided tour of PWG and recreational spaces, visit our website for general polices and guidelines, and seek more information from Membership Services as needed.

Once received, members will be notified via email of the receipt and processing of their cancellation within five business days. Any balance owed past the cancellation date will be refunded to the member. Refund payments may take up to 30 days for processing. 


 

How to Cancel

To cancel an Agreement Billing membership:

  1. Visit the member portal: https://myrec.yale.edu/profile/memberships
  2. Log in to your account
  3. Locate your current membership agreement
  4. Select the “Cancel” option next to your membership
  5. Follow the prompts to complete your cancellation request

Members may also submit a written cancellation request by email to: pwg@yale.edu

Written cancellation requests must include:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • NetID or Member ID

Important Cancellation & Refund Information

  • Membership cancellations completed through the portal before the next billing cycle will prevent future monthly charges.
  • Written cancellation requests submitted via email must be received at least five (5) business days before the billing process begins on the 1st of the month in order to avoid charges for the upcoming month.
    • Example: If a cancellation request is submitted on May 25, billing for June will not occur.
  • Memberships canceled during an active month will remain valid through the final day of that month.
    • Example: A membership canceled on May 7 will remain active through May 31.

Refund Policy

Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing to pwg@yale.edu during the current month of membership.

Refunds:

  • Apply only to the current month
  • Will not be issued for previous months
  • Will be prorated if approved
  • Are subject to a $25 early cancellation fee

Example: If you cancel in May, refunds will not be issued for any months prior to May.
 


 

How to Cancel a Paid in Full Membership

  • Submit your cancellation request in writing to pwg@yale.edu. Written cancellation requests should include full name, e-mail, and NetID/member ID.  

Important Cancellation Information & Refunds

  • Paid in Full Memberships are prorated based on the date the written cancellation request is received.
  • Memberships canceled before their listed expiration date will be subject to a $25 cancellation fee.
  • The $25 cancellation fee will be deducted from the prorated balance owed to the member.

Cancellations for Locker Rentals must be requested in writing to pwg@yale.edu. Cancellations for Locker Rentals will be prorated from the date of receipt of cancellation notification. 

Members with Lockers Rentals who elect to cancel prior to the date of their expiration date will be assessed a $25 Cancellation Fee. The $25 Cancellation Fee will be deducted from the balance owed to the member.
