Member Service Attendant

The Payne Whitney Gymnasium (PWG) Member Service Attendants serves as the front-line customer service representative for the Department of Campus Recreation and PWG. They are the direct supervisor for PWG activity and recreational spaces and assist in providing our members and visitors a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.  

PWG Member Service Attendants staff several workstations throughout the facility including the Welcome Desk, Brady Squash Center, and Israel Fitness Center.   

Additional duties include providing exceptional customer service for members and visitors, following and enforcing policies and procedures, cleaning fitness equipment, assisting with PWG operations and other duties as assigned.

Lead Member Service Attendant

The Lead Member Service Attendant for the Payne Whitney Gym (PWG) serves as the front-line customer service representative for the Department of Campus Recreation and PWG. They serve as the on-site team leader for the PWG in the absence of professional and full-time staff. They are responsible for opening and closing the PWG.

Group Fitness  & Instructional Program Instructors

Instructors lead various group fitness and instructional programs.

Depending on the format and speciality a certification and/or experience instructing will be required.

Personal Trainers

Personal Trainers work with clients to assess and improve physical fitness and wellness by designing workout plans, demonstrating proper techniques, and motivating them to achieved desired outcomes.

A current personal training certification is required.

PWG Lifeguards

PWG Lifeguards serve as lifeguards during Recreational Lap Swim, Club Sport Events, and other various events.

A current American Red Cross Lifeguard , First Aid, and CPR/AED Certification (or equivalent) is required.

OEC Employment (East Lyme, CT)

OEC Lifeguard

OEC Lifeguards serve as waterfront lifeguards at the Yale Outdoor Education Center,  located in East Lyme, CT.

Additional duties include providing exceptional customer service for members and visitors, following and enforcing policies and procedures, supervising of paddle craft, montirnoting waterfront safety/crowd control, performing light waterfront and picnic grove maintenance work, and other duties as assigned. 

This position requires: 

  • Current (or able to obtain) American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR/AED Certification. On-site training is available for those selected for the position; however, they must pass the certification course. 
  • Connecticut Safe Boating Course certification.  On-site training is available  for those selected for the position; however, they must pass the certification course.  Basic boating/paddle craft knowledge preferred. 
  • Ability to work flexible days/hours including  weekends, holidays, and weekdays between the hours of 9:30am to 5:30pm (OEC is closed on Mondays).
  • Preferred job period: Mid-June through Labor Day.
